On this page, you will find information on who represents you, how to contact them, and useful tips on how to communicate with elected officials. We would like to thank the LWV of Seattle-King County for their extremely useful “They Represent You” (TRY) information, which can be found here.

This link will lead you to a tool to help you find who your elected representatives are. Put in your address and it will provide you with your local, county, state, and federal representatives. You can use this information to contact their offices. The link does not give all local elected officials’ information so see the bottom of this page for more local representative contact information.

They Represent You (TRY)

Sharing your thoughts and constituent needs with the people who represent you at the local, county, state, and national level is easy yet vital to the functioning of our democracy. When an issue or legislation that you care about arises, or when you require your representatives’ advice or assistance, contact your representatives by email, phone, submitting an online form, or requesting a meeting to ensure that your voice is heard. All elected officials have access to virtual meetings. 

Tips for Communicating with Elected Officials: 
  • Don't be intimidated. You don't need to know everything; just share your perspective. 
  • Email is now the preferred method of communication, but phone calls and letters are still effective. 
  • Be courteous and to-the-point. 
  • Keep letters to one page. 
  • Letters to elected officials should be addressed to "Position" plus name, as in "Councilmember Jane Doe." 
  • Describe specifically and in your own words how an issue or legislation will affect you or others you know. 
  • Include the bill number or its popular name if you are commenting on a specific legislation. 
  • Be sure to provide your name, address, email address, and phone number. 
  • Ask for a response. 
  • Give positive feedback.
